Welcome to McNeil & Sons!

We focus on small tonnage and produce distinct and specific single-vineyard Pinot Noirs from the coastal vineyards of Marin County. Enjoy our wine, our site, and thanks for stopping by.

Stand “downtown” in front of the single building Rancho Nicasio bar, restaurant, general store and post office. Don’t be alarmed if a sheriff’s deputy pulls over to take a look at the unfamiliar face. Look away, way up the hills to the left, between the red wooden Nicasio Volunteer Fire Department and the stern white Old St. Mary’s Church. On the ridge you’ll see the ‘Redding Ranch Vineyard’, higher up (1,100 feet elevation) than you might think possible. You can’t easily drive up for a better look, because Old Rancheria Road is private, and the dirt road to the vines is treacherously winding. These 4-year-old vines, exposed to wind and fog and occasional bursts of sun, are growing not just pinot noir grapes – they also contain the seeds of Marin County’s future reputation for high-end winemaking.

Patrick really gets it right. He’s been in the wine business since 1997 and if his wines are any indication, he has an impressive list of connections and contacts to prove it. We’ve been working with him for a while.

Exotic and distinctive, with well-mannered tannins and admirable length. A very interesting wine that veers from the usual California paradigm. Very good.
